MONROE, NC – A traffic stop in Monroe lead to the discovery of more than $1 million in stolen vehicles.
Police say they stopped a speeding driver on West Franklin Street around 7am on Tuesday.
The officer determined the car had been reported stolen in Orlando, Florida in 2021.
Investigators discovered that the driver, Stefan Huewe of Fort Mill, owns All PRO Fleet & Auto Services in Stanly County.
Monroe police worked with special agents from the North Carolina License and Theft Bureau and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Agents got a search warrant for Huewe’s business, and say they found seven stolen vehicles estimated at a total of $1.25 million dollars.
Huewe is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, displaying a fictitious registration plate, speeding and felony chop shop activity.
