Rain chances linger through workweek
Noticeably cooler and drier air filters into the Carolinas by Sunday.
Overcast skies and widespread sogginess have taken over the WCCB Charlotte viewing area this Thursday afternoon, parking temperatures in the 60s and 70s across the Piedmont and Foothills. A few stray showers and storms will linger overnight into Friday morning, but most communities will be dry to kick off the final day of the workweek. Humidity levels remain on the muggy side as isolated storms pop up in the afternoon. The better rain chances arrive late Friday night ahead of a cold front approaching from the northwest.
Any scattered showers and storms we see early Saturday morning will largely clear by sunrise. A few more storms may pop up in the late morning and early afternoon as the front pushes through the Carolinas, but we’ll be all clear by Saturday evening. Highs will likely surge back into the 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills to kick off the weekend as stiff southwesterly winds push warmth back into our area ahead of the front. Cooler and noticeably drier air set up shop by Sunday as highs return to near-normal values in the 60s and 70s across the board. The start of next week looks sunny and very warm; the Queen City may be pushing 90° by midweek.
