Wilson’s World: Walking to School with Denny Hamlin and Cotswold Elementary Students

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson donned his bright yellow safety vest as he joined kids from Cotswold Elementary School celebrating the 21st Annual International Walk to School Day.  But they weren’t walking alone.  NASCAR’s #11 FedEx Racing driver Denny Hamlin joined in on the walk as well as Lug Nut and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Safe Kids Worldwide and Safe Kids Charlotte work with the FedEx Cares Program helping education kids safety on their walk to school and being safe every day on the sidewalk and in crosswalks with their special “Clifford Takes a Walk to School” book.

The National Center for Safe Routes to School  is the coordinating organization for the International Walk to School Day.  The organization is committed to empowering communities to make walking and bicycling to school a safe, appealing choice for commuting to school.

Since 1999 FedEx has sponsored the Charlotte area International Walk to School Day as part of their FedEx Cares Program .  Their Road Safety Program is only part of the FedEx Cares Program.
