Should The National Anthem Be Played Before Sporting Events?

CHARLOTTE, NC — Players taking a knee during the National Anthem has caused a lot of controversy in the NFL, and in a letter to team executives on Tuesday Commissioner Roger Goodell said that it’s time to move on.

“Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem,” the NFL Commissioner wrote. “It is an important moment in our game. We want to honor our flag and our country, and our fans expect that of us.”

Many critics argue, however, that historically the National Anthem hasn’t always been be played before sporting events. They say now may be a good time to revert back to those days.
