3 Suspects Arrested In Connection To A West Charlotte Homicide

CMPD has charged three suspects in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on October 12th.
Bobby Smith Jr., 30, has been charged with the murder of Detavious Springs. He also faces a charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Police also arrested Shamekia Hill on October 17th and Felicia Woods on October 23rd in connection to the murder. They have each been charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
According to investigators, Springs, Hill, and Woods were meeting Smith for a drug deal that Friday afternoon. Officials say the three of them had planned to rob Smith during the transaction, but shots were fired during the attempted robbery which resulted in Springs’ death.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say a man shot in west Charlotte Friday afternoon has died from his injuries.
The shooting happened on Farmer Street around 3:40pm. Police say 24-year-old Detavious Springs was shot in the stomach and taken to CMC for treatment. Officials say he later passed away during surgery.
Officials say the shooting happened at the intersection of Farmer Street and Romare Bearden Drive, but Springs and a female witness were found in a nearby apartment. Detectives are still working to piece together what happened in the incident.
