Summerlike heat swells into weekend

Outside of a stray storm on Saturday and Sunday, we'll largely stay dry over the next five days.

Happy Friday! Today may not be the sunniest day of the year so far, but it very well may be the hottest. The Queen City has yet to crack 90° in 2025 – despite mostly cloudy skies this afternoon, many communities across the Piedmont and Foothills will come awfully close as we close out the workweek. While the clouds may look threatening at times, only those north of I-40 stand to see any isolated storms later in the day. While slightly higher rain chances establish themselves into the weekend as a robust storm system approaches from the west, the WCCB Charlotte viewing area largely stays dry over the next five days. That said, we’ll have to watch any storm that gets going on Saturday for the potential for strong wind, localized heavy rain, and small hail.

Mostly sunny skies make a triumphant return by the start of the workweek after variable clouds skirt through our Carolina skies this weekend. Highs across the Piedmont and Foothills hover around the mid-to-upper 80s between Saturday and Tuesday. Medium-range models are pointing toward another mid-to-late-week disturbance bringing rain and storms, but it doesn’t look remotely close to the deluge we saw to kick off this week.
