Police have now filed eight additional charges against Ivan Dawkins. These charges include attempted 1st degree statutory rape, sex offense by a substitute parent and six counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
Police say the charges stem from an assault that happened in a Charlotte park on October 15th and prior assaults against the same two victims. Additional charges may be forthcoming. Police say the investigation is still active and anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators say a Charlotte man is facing charges for taking indecent liberties with two children.
Police were called to Armory Drive on October 15th just after 8pm in reference to a sexual assault call. A witness told police he observed a man, later identified as Ivan Dawkins, sexually assaulting two young girls.
Responding officers located Dawkins and the girls nearby. After gathering information on the scene, officers voluntarily transported Dawkins to police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives with the crimes against children unit.
During the investigation, detectives determined that Dawkins was the caregiver of the victims, ages 7 and 9, at the time of the assault.
Dawkins has been charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense with a child.
