Former officer charged with straw purchasing firearm

GASTONIA, N.C. – A former Gastonia Police officer is facing new federal charges after authorities say she bought a gun and gave it to someone else.

According to an unsealed indictment, Xana Dove told Belmont gun shop owners at Shooter’s Express the pistol she was buying was for herself.

Prosecutors allege she then gave it to someone else, violating state and federal law. The documents did not say who she gave it to.

Dove now faces straw purchasing charges. Last year, she pleaded guilty to a dozen felony charges related to illegally accessing police computers and helping someone pass a polygraph test.
