Anker recalls 1.1 million power banks due to fire, burn hazards

Anker issued a recall Thursday for its PowerCore 10000 power bank model A1263 due to potential fire and burn hazards, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC).

The recall covers approximately 1,158,000 units sold from June 2016 through December 2022 for about $27. It was sold online at Anker, Amazon, Newegg, and Ebay.

The USCPSC says the lithium-ion battery in the power bank can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Anker has received 19 reports of fires and explosions that include two minor burn injuries. There were 11 reports of property damage totaling over $60,700.

Consumers are asked to stop using the recalled power banks and contact Anker for a free replacement.

The model number β€œA1263” and serial number are printed on the bottom of the power bank. Consumers should check their serial number online at Anker’s website to see if their power bank is included in the recall.Β
