Carolina’s Health Care System Holds Balloon Release For Victims Of Substance Abuse

CHARLOTTE, NC — In North Carolina, 124 people die each month from drug overdoses. To help bring awareness to the growing epidemic Carolina’s Health Care System held a balloon release Thursday afternoon.

124 balloons took flight outside the Behavioral Health Charlotte facility in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to substance abuse.

Each balloon released this afternoon had a wildflower seed inside to plant a flower for victims. NC has seen a 73% increase in opioid-related deaths over a 10 year period.
