1 dead, 2 hurt in Uptown homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person died and two others were injured in a shooting in Uptown overnight, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North Caldwell Street near East 5th Street.

When officers arrived, they located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said a third victim self-transported themselves to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
