Wilson’s World: Gearing Up the Second Harvest Food Bank Harvest Feast Marathon

Second Harvest Food Bank Harvest Feast Marathon kicks off at 10am this morning at Harris Teeter in StoneCrest on Rea Road

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A little cold weather won’t stop Wilson when he is on a mission.  And today was one of those days.  He was outside in the parking lot of Harris Teeter at StoneCrest on Rea Road where he was preparing for the kick-off of  Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s  Harvest Feast Marathon.

Lisa Nisely of SHFBM braved the cold with Wilson this morning to explain what the Harvest Feast is all about and what will be going on during the two weekend long event.  Harris Teeter has partnered up with SHFBM  because the holiday season is the perfect time to share our resources with those who are in need.  There are over 527,000 people in our 19 county region living at or below the poverty level, with 188,000 of those being children and 41,000 seniors.

At 10am this morning Wilson will be joined by our own Derek James to kick off the Harvest Feast Marathon.  There will be lots of fun even for Derek and Wilson when they participate in a quick shopping game along with other local TV and Radio personalities.

The Second Harvest Food Bank Harvest Feast Marathon takes place at the Harris Teeter StoneCrest on Rea Road for two weekends:  Friday, November 10th – Saturday, November 11th (10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days) and Friday, November 17th – Saturday, November 18th (10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days).  Each Saturday of the food drive will incorporate fun and FREE things for families…and you MAY meet a super hero during your visit!

Harris Teeter is joined by Ballantyne Corporate Park, David Weekley Homes and Primrose Schools to support SHFBM in working to refill their shelves before the holidays.
