Above average summer heat causing more bugs to come into homes
CHARLOTTE, NC — Summer means the bugs are out or should we say in.
“Like humans, you want to stay cool? Same thing with insects. That’s when they start to force their way inside,” said pest professional Ryan Beaver.
It’s already been a busy summer for Beaver with Triangle Pest Control.
Beaver says he’s had to add at least three new customers to his route each day thanks to months of heavy rain and a hotter than normal start to summer.
“We’ve seen a bunch of fire ants pop up, and then American roaches. People have seen a bunch of those popping inside the house because it’s super hot outside,” explained Beaver.
Pest control companies around Charlotte are saying the same. Roaches, ants, and termites are popping up more often than a standard summer.
Beaver says to protect yourself and your home from unwelcome visitors, weather-strip your doors and keep your garage doors closed.
