Confederate Monument Vandalized In Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a Confederate monument at Old City Hall in Uptown has been vandalized.

The granite monument on Trade Street was sprayed painted with the words “Racist”. Β 

Documents say the monument was placed at Old City Hall by the Confederate Memorial Association of Charlotte in 1977. Β 

City council voted 5-1 in favor of allowing this organization to place the monument in this location.

No arrests have been made in the case.
