Thieves Accused Of Stealing Batteries From AT&T Hubs

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are investigating the theft of batteries from AT&T hubs in eastern Lincoln County.

Investigators say batteries were taken from locations on Unity Church Road and Club Drive.  The suspect is accused of cutting cables at the Unity Church Road site and stealing four batteries.  This caused customers in the area to experience low power and slow internet speeds.

Deputies say 20 batteries were stolen from the location on Club Drive.  Investigators believe the person stealing the batteries knows how to turn off the door alarms after opening the boxes and has a special tool that can access the boxes.

Three other incidents involving the theft of batteries from AT&T hubs were reported earlier this year.  Police are asking anyone with information about these thefts to call Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.
