Police Seize 150 Animals

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on a property near Indian Trail and found 150 animals living in inhumane conditions.

The animals were in need of medical care from living in an unsanitary environment.Β The nonprofit, Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, took custody of nine roosters and fiveΒ ducks as part of a large-scale animal rescue. The remaining animals were taken to other facilities.Β

The birds at the CWR are emaciated and covered in parasites, according to Executive Director Jennifer Gordon. As a nonprofit and no-kill facility, the Carolina Waterfowl needs help paying for medicine and food for these birds.Β To donate for the birds’ care,Β visit www.cwrescue.org.
