Summer returns later this week
Falls grip fades for a time
After a picture perfect holiday weekend, it’s back to work and school today. The good news is today will be just as nice! Unfortunately, I am tracking a return to summer weather by later this week. Before we get there, expect highs near 80 in the Piedmont today, and closer to 70 in the High Country. We can also expect plentiful sunshine, and low humidity, leading to quite a comfortable day. We do it all again on Wednesday with temperatures slightly warmer than Tuesday.
By Thursday, a weak cold front approaches the area from the NW. Unfortunately, we will be on the warm side of this front, which will lead to an increase in flow from the south. That means warmer temperatures and a rise in humidity. We could also see a couple afternoon storms on Thursday, especially in the High Country. Temperatures will stay in the upper 80s to lower 90s Thursday through Saturday. Slightly cooler in the High Country with highs in the mid to upper 70s the second half of this week. There are signs of relief by Sunday, but the extent of it is up for debate. At the very least, temperatures and humidity should moderate.
We are approaching peak hurricane season, but the tropics remain relatively quiet with only one area to monitor well out in the Atlantic. This area of interest has a 60% chance of developing over the next 7 days. While it currently poses no threat to the United States we will continue to watch it!
