Weekend warm-up on the way

Tracking in a few scattered showers Sunday

Happy Friday!
Tonight remains nice and dry with overnight lows in the foothills in the upper 40s and across the metro lower 50s. Sunny and dry weather will continue into the weekend, but the cooler temperatures won’t stick around. Saturday will bring a warm-up into the low 80s ahead of a weak front arriving on Sunday, which will drop temperatures back into the 70s. Rain chances with this front are minimal, with just a few scattered showers possible in the metro area and slightly better chances in the mountains. After that, a nice stretch of fall weather returns for next week.

All good things must come to an end and that transition starts Sunday. While most of the moisture remains west of the Continental Divide, scattered showers and a few storms will find their way into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area Sunday afternoon and evening. The severe threat will be minimal, although a few heavy showers and storms are possible later in the day. Most totals in the Carolinas remain well under a half inch before the rain clears out by Monday morning. Next week appears to pick up where we leave off today – sunny, breezy, and dry.
