Taylorsville Man Charged With Felony Child Abuse

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Deputies say they arrested a man on felony child abuse charges on January 10th.

The investigation started after a 13-month-0ld child was treated at a hospital for injuries.  DSS and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office were both requested to meet with the family.

After further investigation, deputies arrested Teddy Bentley, 35, of Taylorsville and charged him with felony child abuse resulting in severe physical injury.  Officials say Bentley was a friend to the family and a live-in babysitter.

Bentley is currently in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.
