CHARLOTTE, NC — A young woman was hospitalized Friday night after she was hit by a passing vehicle while being broke down on the side of the road.
The accident happened just after 5pm on the 29-49 ramp to I-85 southbound. Troopers say the young woman broke down on the ramp and pulled off to the right. She then called her father, who pulled off to the left side of the ramp when he arrived to help.
Officials say she was crossing to meet him when she was stuck by a passing van. The van driver stopped at the scene and showed no evidence of impairment, according to troopers.
The young woman was taken to CMC with life threatening injuries.
Her name has not yet been released.
