CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A number of families are keeping their kids home from school because of concerns about being targeted by immigration officials or being caught up in arrests.
CMS says the unofficial numbers show 20,935 students were absent on Monday, November 17th. That is about 15% of the entire district’s enrollment.
The spike follows a deployment of federal Border Patrol agents in Charlotte.
WCCB is working to see how that compares to others but we are still waiting to hear back.
