Record heat begins to cool

Tracking next rain chances

Another record high in the Queen City today, as we climbed to 81! This shatters the old record of 76 degrees set back in 2011. We could see a few stray showers or storms this evening, but it looks like a dry evening for most of us. While I’m not expecting any new records over the coming days, it’ll stay well above average. Highs will reach near 70 in the Piedmont tomorrow and the upper 50s in the High Country. Sunshine will be plentiful, and humidity will once again begin to drop back to typical fall levels.

Temperatures cool by a couple of degrees for Monday, but remain above our average high of 61 through Wednesday. By Tuesday evening our next rain chance looks to approach. A well defined cold front will approach from the west bringing rain chances, and much cooler air by Thanksgiving weekend. Rain chances look to peak overnight Tuesday, but could linger into Wednesday. By Wednesday night we look to dry out, and cooler temperatures funnel in.

This looks to set up a beautiful Thanksgiving day with sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s for the Piedmont, and close to 40 in the High Country. The sunny skies remain for Black Friday, but temperatures cool further with many stuck in the lower 50s. Morning lows will also drop significantly after our Wednesday front with many getting back to a hard freeze by the end of next week. Enjoy the beautiful weather and stick with the WCCB weather team for the latest!
