Rain in sight

Tracking a chilly ThanksgivingΒ

After record heat on Saturday, we have come back to reality across the area today with temperatures around 70 in the Piedmont. Monday looks to be similar, although a few degrees cooler, and some clouds work in. By Tuesday our next system arrives from the west. A cold front looks to get caught over us by Tuesday, helping to increase rain chances. Right now it looks like the majority of the rain holds off until Tuesday evening/overnight. However we could see scattered showers begin earlier. The scattered rain holds through Wednesday morning, but I expect clearing through the day with much nicer weather just in time for the parade Wednesday evening!

After our front crosses the area, temperatures drop significantly just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Highs look to be 5-10 degrees below average which means many of us will be stuck in the 50s in the Piedmont, and near 40 in the High Country. This also means morning lows by Black Friday will likely dip back below freezing for only the 2nd time this season. The good news is sunshine looks plentiful from Thanksgiving through the start of the weekend.

Looking at the long range this shot of cooler air likely doesn’t last too long. Obviously it’s too soon for specifics, but we will keep you posted. Enjoy the holiday week ahead, and stick with the WCCB weather team for the latest!
