WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Alma S. Adams sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem demanding answers regarding Border Patrol’s immigration operations in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Operation Charlotte’s Web began on November 15th with agents making arrests as part of President Donald Trump’s push to deport illegal immigrants throughout the country. So far, operations have been conducted in Democratic held cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Charlotte. according to the Associated Press.
DHS officials say more than 425 ‘illegal immigrants’ have been arrested as part of Operation Charlotte’s Web.
Local leaders have serious concerns after videos recorded by residents show what they claim as agents racially profiling Hispanic and Latinos and inciting fear in the community.
Dozens of businesses in the city closed over safety concerns for their employees and patrons. Many construction sites remain empty or with limited workers over fears of detainment or deportation.
Rep. Adams claims there has been little to no communication from federal officials on the operation like the length of the operation, the amount of arrests, the detention locations, costs, policies on restitution for damages and more. Read the full letter below.
