CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman is facing federal charges after she allegedly bit and kicked flight attendants during her plane’s descent into Charlotte Douglas International Airport Wednesday.
American Airlines flight #1033 from Dallas was descending into CLT shortly after 10:15am when officials say Charlene Harriott left her seat near the back of the plane and began running towards the cockpit.
Flight attendants yelled for Harriott to sit down, but then moved to restrain her when she kept running towards the cockpit door. Officials say Harriott bit one crew member and broke the skin, while kicking and punching two others.
Harriott was eventually restrained to a seat and then taken into custody upon arrival at the gate. The crew members were evaluated by Airport Medic and then transferred to the American Airlines onsite medical center for treatment.
Harriott is charged with Interference with Flight Crew Member and Attendants within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.
