Amtrak Safety Concerns After Another Deadly Crash
CAYCE, SC – There are new concerns about Amtrak safety, after another deadly crash. Two people are dead and more than 100 others hurt after the collision in South Carolina.
The Amtrak passenger train slammed into a CSX freight train around 2:30 Sunday morning in Cayce, near Columbia, South Carolina.
According to the NTSB, a rail switch was manually set to divert the train onto a side track, where the CSX train was parked.
The NTSB says the crash could have been avoided if the Amtrak train had the positive control system.
