Scientists discover lemon-shaped planet
Scientists have discovered a lemon-shaped planet.
Youβre seeing an artistβs rendering followed by animation of it orbiting its star.
The Jupiter-sized gas giant is more than 2,000 light years from Earth and was recently studied through the James Webb Space Telescope.
The planet is very close to its star, whose gravitational forces are pulling it into a lemon shape. The planetβs atmosphere is mostly made of helium and carbon.
Scientists say theyβve never seen anything like this before.
