Burke County Student Arrested After Threatening To “Shoot Up The School”

MORGANTON, NC — A 17-year-old Patton High School student is facing charges after deputies say she threatened to “shoot up the school.”

A student reported the threat allegedly made by Mackenzie Swink Monday morning. The school’s principal immediately contacted the resource officer who then brought Swink in for questioning.

Swink has been charged with Making a False Report Concerning Mass Violence on Educational Property. She has been placed under a $50,000 secured bond.
