“Walk For Peace” monks draws large crowd in Concord
CONCORD, NC — Day 3 in North Carolina ended in Concord for America’s favorite monks.
Before they resting for the night, the monks spread their message of peace.
It’s been 82 days of walking. Their 2,300 mile journey started in Texas and will come to an end in the nation’s capitol. Attracting crowds everywhere just to get a quick look at the monks spreading peace.
“I may cry because again, I mean, we just go through so much and witnessing every day at the school just just to have them care enough to come through our city because they could have chosen any city to come through just to have them come here. It’s going to make my heart warm,” said Tosha Dionne.
For Sophie and Alvin Chantiret, their trip is extra special because they are related to three of the monks.
Alvin tells us when they first told them of their plan to walk, he had questions.
“You sure you can do that? It’s like, well, it’s an opportunity whether we can do it or not. We’re going to try,” said Alvin Chantiret.
They tell us a sense of pride fills their heart each day they’ve seen their relatives walk in our area. And while they love the support the country is giving them, they do have a request
“They really want people to, to to to stay back, not to close. It’s caused a lot of distraction on their mentality, on how they walk and focus,” explained Chantiret.
