Shelters open in York Co. to help people in need during the wintry weather

ROCK HILL, SC – Two shelters are open in York County to assist the County’s vulnerable and at-need populations.

The Northside Recreation Center in Rock Hill and the York Recreation Center in York have opened shelter operations and will remain open until further notice.

The shelters are operated by the American Red Cross and South Carolina Department of Social Services, at the request of York County.

The facilities were provided by both the City of Rock Hill and the City of York.

The shelters provide a safe place for residents to remain until the impacts of the winter storm have passed.

Individuals at the shelter should bring needed medication with them.

The locations of the opened shelters are:

Northside Recreation Center – 900 Annafrel St, Rock Hill, SC 29730
York Recreation Center – 21 White Rose Ln, York, SC 29745

No drugs or alcohol are allowed.

No I.D. is required, but a brief registration will be completed onsite.
