Wilson’s World: Talking Project One Fundraiser and NASA with Dr. Christine Darden
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was all geeked out this morning because the NASA dork inside of him was so excited because he was meeting Dr. Christine Darden from Monroe who is a history-making mathematician, data analyst, and NASA engineer.
Wilson was at Amelie’s in NoDa where they were talking about tonight’s Project One Power of One Fundraiser where Dr. Darden will be speaking. Dr. Darden, is one of the subjects of the book “Hidden Figures.” She will be talking about her journey to NASA and how she became an aeronautical engineer with NASA researching supersonic flight.
Project One is a local non-profit that helps kids from low-income families attend college using scholarships and support programs. The application process began the end of January and runs through the end of March. Project One looks for the serious student with a 3.0 GPA that are active in their school and after school activities.
