Suspect In NW Charlotte Standoff Identified

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have identified the suspect arrested after a standoff situation in northwest Charlotte Thursday morning.

The incident started around 10:30am on Jones Street near Rozzelles Ferry Road. Police say Michael Mahol, 28, was wanted in relation to a stolen vehicle case on March 20th.

Officials say Mahol was located inside the apartment but refused to come out. Shortly after 12pm, Mahol was taken into custody by SWAT.

Mahol is charged with one count each of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Records show Mahol has faced numerous charges in the past for breaking into vehicles, theft, hit-and-run, identity theft, and a prior charge for vehicle theft back in 2015.
