Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools closed Monday due to snowstorm

CHARLOTTE, NC – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed on Monday due to the snowstorm that hit the Charlotte area on Saturday.

“After closely monitoring weather conditions and in coordination with local and state officials, all CMS district, school, and work locations will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026,” CMS said in an email Sunday. “Because this instructional day is waived by the Superintendent, we will not be using a designated make-up instructional day on the 2025-26 academic calendar.”

All school activities, including before-school and after-school programs, will be cancelled as well.

All CMS buildings will remain closed so crews can clear ice and debris from school campuses, and to check bus routes and roadways to confirm that schools are ready for reopening.
