Missing Concord teen found dead

The cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner.

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA — The Concord Police is investigating the death of 18-year-old Yadira Hernandez Castro.

Castro was reported missing by her parents around 9:30 am Sunday. On February 2, 2026 around 5:30 pm, she was found deceased.

According to the Concord Police Department, “She was reportedly intoxicated and last seen leaving her friend’s house on Pine Street NW around 10:30 p.m. Castro’s parents also reported speaking to her on the phone around 10:50 p.m.”

Early Monday morning, the Concord Police Department continued a land search with the help of Concord Fire. “During this second land search, police located a deceased individual matching Castro’s description. After positive identification, the family was notified around 5:30 p.m. Based on the initial investigation, investigators suspect alcohol and extreme cold temperatures contributed to Castro’s death and current evidence does not suggest foul play”
