Taste of spring arrives

Highs approach record territory around the Queen City this Tuesday afternoon.

Who’s ready for summer? It won’t exactly feel like June across the Carolinas this Tuesday afternoon, but a splendid taste of spring arrives as highs soar into the upper 60s and lower 70s across the Piedmont & Foothills. Clouds and southwesterly winds will build overnight ahead of a cold front, allowing for lows to stay on the mild side in the 40s and 50s across the board. Scattered showers will develop along the front as it passes through the Carolinas early Wednesday morning, but any rain would be light before clearing out by the afternoon. Temperatures will spring back into the mid-to-upper 60s for most around the Metro for our Hump Day before much cooler air settles back in across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area.

While Thursday and Friday won’t be as warm as the days prior, highs should remain slightly above normal in the upper 50s across the Piedmont & Foothills as we roll into Valentine’s Day weekend. Unfortunately, increasing rain chances could break a few hearts this weekend as a robust storm system rolls through the Southeast. While Valentine’s Day Saturday likely stays dry, widespread rain arrives by Sunday and could quickly turn into a washout if current model trends persist. Highs will top out in the 50s for many this weekend, which would keep us too warm for wintry weather and too cool for anything severe right now. Stay tuned!
