Arrest warrant issued for Mecklenburg County Commissioner
MECKLENBURG CO., N.C. – Mecklenburg County Commissioner Yvette Townsend-Ingram has a warrant out for her arrest. Court documents show she is wanted in Gaston County in connection to a DWI case from 2024. Townsend-Ingram pleaded guilty to driving under the influence that year and was ordered to perform community service. Officials say she did not comply with that order, leading to the new arrest warrant.
Our cameras caught up with Townsend-Ingram Tuesday night after a county commission meeting in Uptown. WCCB Charlotte photojournalist Chris Keimig asked her, “Commissioner Townsend-Ingram, I was wondering if you had any comments about your (warrant)?” She replied, “I don’t, but thank you so much for the interest. I pray that everybody is interested in coming out to vote as much as they are in this administrative issue. Thank you.”
Law enforcement officials in Gaston County have not said if they plan to extradite Commissioner Townsend-Ingram.
