The Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) hosted their annual signature event, Pet Palooza Festival & Walk for the Animals on Saturday, April 21, 2018. This year’s event featured new vendors, food trucks, beer trucks, “doga”, and professional wrestlers affiliated with The Crockett Foundation!
Hosted by HSC, Pet Palooza has been a spring fixture in Charlotte, dedicated to raising funds to support the dogs and cats sheltered by the Humane Society of Charlotte. All funds raised go to the care and support of the animals at HSC. The organization’s goal was to re-home several animals at the event, as a number of dogs were on-site and available for adoption.
The 2K Walk for the Animals was supported by numerous corporate teams, volunteer groups, and loyal followers of the Humane Society of Charlotte. The HSC staff even participated a in friendly inter-office competition to see which team could raise the most funds. The leading team was “Don’t Stop Retrieving”. HSC staff broke their record for fundraising compared to years past.
“Pet Palooza has been a fixture in the community for more than 20 years,” mentioned Donna Stucker, VP of Development. “We love seeing families come out with their kids and pets, all in costume, ready to show their support for HSC and animals in Charlotte. The event is always fun for everyone and we are so lucky to have beautiful weather this year!”
Each year, Pet Palooza raises more than $100,000 to support the animals of HSC and is joined by many community partners, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control (CMACC). CMACC brought their team out for “Check the Chip”, an initiative that helps owners check to ensure their pet’s microchip is in working condition and has the correct identification information.
Pet Palooza 2018 was presented by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Food Lion and was supported by numerous sponsors throughout the community.
Pet Palooza took place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at Independence Park, Charlotte, NC.
