Wilson’s World: Talking Fire Safety and Smoke Alarms with the Red Cross

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Home safety is a very important and serious subject, but leave it to Wilson to have a little fun when talking home fire safety with the wonderful people at the Red Cross on Park Road

From April 28th through May 13th the American Red Cross will ‘Sound the Alarm’ with a team of volunteers to get more smoke alarms in homes across the country.  The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don’t have them, and by educating people about home fire safety.

Every day 7 people die in house fires and most of these deaths are due to fact that the home lacks a working smoke alarm.  To help combat this serious issue the American Red Cross along with fire departments across the country has installed over 1 million smoke alarms in homes while also installing new batteries in existing alarms as well as providing fire safety education as part of their ‘Sound the Alarm’ campaign.

The American Red Cross has partner with companies such as Blue Cross & Blue Shield as well as Piedmont Natural Gas to help make homes safer.  If you are in need of a smoke alarm, would like to volunteer with the Red Cross to help install alarms or donate to the Red Cross for the campaign go to their website HERE.
