American Airlines employee arrested for false bomb threat

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An American Airlines employee was charged after allegedly reporting a false bomb threat at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Wednesday.

Arrest

25-year-old Christian Cox was arrested and was released on $10,000 bail on Thursday.

According to the affidavit, Cox sent a text to another American Airlines worker that read: “DONT BE HERO GOT BOMB IN THE ELEVATOR RN.”

The employee reported the threat to his supervisor, who called the police.

Cox reportedly admitted to sending the text to his coworker but said it was intended as a joke.
