Charlotte Man Attempts to Flee Robbery Scene

Charlotte, N.C. — Police arrested a Charlotte man for common law robbery while conducting an operation on Julia Avenue. On Tuesday, February 10th, at around 7 p.m., officers observed a male suspect physically assault a male victim.

Police say they saw the suspect remove money from the victim’s pockets and run from the area. Officers chased down the suspect and took him into custody immediately. Once the victim and police positively identified the suspect as Daquan Powell, he was transported to the Metro Division team office where he was interviewed by the arresting officers.

The victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries he sustained during the assault.

Powell was charged with common law robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia and transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
