Record highs on Sunday
Tracking record high temperatures
Summer heat is about to work into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area. Before we get to that, we will need to watch for scattered showers and storms this evening. The timing for any rain looks to be from 4pm-midnight. These showers/storms will also pose the threat of strong straight line winds and even some hail. So make sure to keep an eye on radar and download the WCCB Charlotte weather app so youβre notified of any watches or warnings issued!
Rain clears by tomorrow morning where lows will be mild, only dropping into the upper 50s across the Piedmont. A warm wind out of the south, and plentiful sunshine will lead to widespread record highs tomorrow afternoon. The record high of 85 set back in 1948 is likely to be broken or even shattered with widespread highs in the upper 80s in the Piedmont. Some may even find their first 90 degree reading of 2026!
Temperatures come back down a bit on Monday as our next frontal system approaches from the north. Monday will still be warm with highs in the low 80s before an isolated evening storm. Behind this another shot of cooler air funnels in on Tuesday before another slow climb back to the 80s by next Friday.
An important thing of note in this forecast is the overall lack of rain. Drought conditions continue to worsen across the region. This will begin to increase wildfire concerns over the coming weeks. So make sure to use extreme caution when doing any burning!
