LINCOLNTON, NC — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after skimmers were found in two Texaco gas pumps last week. 
The devices were found Wednesday, May 2nd in pumps one and four at the Country Corner Convenience Store on Highway 150. Detectives say the store was established as a common point of purchase with the victims after several reported fraudulent charges in Florida.
Detectives say the skimmers may have been placed in the pumps on or before March 27, 2018.
The device used was installed inside the pump, officials say, and was not visible from the outside. Management says they will perform daily checks on the machines to prevent future incidents, and ensure the security of their customer’s information.
Anyone who may have used these pumps between March 27 and May 2 is advised to monitor their credit card and bank accounts for any fraudulent activity. If fraud is spotted, contact your financial institution immediately.
