Get Fines A Grand For Cheering At Graduation

Don’t even think about cheering for your kid, says one high school in Greenville, South Carolina. They’ll fine you more than a grand, if you cheer during the ceremony. The school leaders say, cheering ‘ruins’ the moment, you can’t hear the kids names and it delays everything.

Police there have said, they can’t do much about the fine, but they will do something if they’re called. We did some digging and found that a lot of schools in South Carolina have done this in the past including Fort Mill.

Part of the state’s disorderly conduct law hits any person found at any public place or gathering that’s behaving in a disorderly or boisterous manner. In North Carolina, disorderly conduct is considered a public disturbance that’s intentional.

Is this too much? What are better ways to cut down on the cheering?
