MONROE, NC — Police are looking for multiple suspects in connection to a violent home invasion Wednesday night.
The incident happened around 9:35pm at a home on Riverside Drive. Police say the victim was sitting in his garage with the door up when three black males approached him with guns demanding money and drugs.
The victim told police the suspects forced him inside, down to the floor and tied him up. Police say two of the suspects then kicked in the door to a rear bedroom and demanded money from the elderly victim sleeping inside.
Police say the suspects then went through the rest of the house and took off.
K9 units and responding officers tracked the suspects through a nearby playground but lost their scent near Hunters Way, which runs alongside Riverchase Drive.
Police say a similar incident was reported to the Union County Sheriff’s Office a short time later. Both departments are investigating.
