Suspect on the run following lunchtime bank heist in Belmont

BELMONT, N.C. — Belmont Police are searching for this accused bank robbery suspect.

Officers responded to the State Employees’ Credit Union around 12:30pm, Monday, March 30th, on Wilkinson Boulevard in reference to a bank robbery.

Detectives say a man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. He reportedly left the bank on foot before getting inside a vehicle that was waiting nearby.

The vehicle is described as a gray/silver four-door Nissan sedan that was last seen traveling west on Wilkinson Boulevard toward Gastonia.

Police say no weapon was shown or used during the incident and no injuries were reported.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
