Police: Man tries to hide gun he used to threaten ex-girlfriend in tank of a toilet

MONROE, N.C. – Monroe Police say Jorge Bonilla is facing criminal charges after threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, firing shots outside her home, and trying to force his way inside.

It happened early Sunday morning on South Hayne Street. Officers say 34-year-old Bonilla was arrested nearby a short time later. Police say he tried to hide the gun he used inside the tank of a toilet.

Bonilla is now charged with attempted breaking and entering with intent to terrorize or injure, communicating threats, and discharging a firearm within city limits. He’s in jail under a $5,000 bond.
