
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit have charged three men for their involvement in last night’s double shooting in the 8500 block of University Station Circle.
Police were called to the scene just after 10 p.m. Friday night. The suspects attempted to flee the area, but were stopped when North Division patrol officers conducted a felony traffic stop. Five suspects were detained and taken to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.Β
21-year-old Christopher Willis was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, injury to property, possession with intent to sell and deliver a drug. 18-year-old Roberto Garcia was charged with possession of marijuana. 19-year-old Tevin Mayweather was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, firearm by felon and injury to personal property.Β
A 6-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were found suffering from gunshot wounds when officers arrived and both were transported to Carolina’s Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
