YMCA To Provide All-Day Programming And Care For Students During May 16th Teacher March

CHARLOTTE, NC — The YMCA of Greater Charlotte announced Tuesday that it will extend its out-of-school time programming to provide child care options for families during school closures on Wednesday, May 16th.

The organization says they want to support teachers, parents, and students in public school during the planned NC March for Students and Rally for Respect.

The Y usually offers all-day camp as part of its Y Afterschool program on teacher workdays and school breaks, but says they will open all of their branches to all families, even those not currently enrolled in other Y programs, in an effort to help working families.

The programs will include typical YMCA out-of-school activities. Officials say some branches will even host special field trips, swimming, theater and visual arts classes.
