HOLLYWOOD, CA– During an episode of his Armchair Expert podcast, Dax Shepard defended his wife, Kristen Bell, against intense social media backlash stemming from a “tone-deaf” anniversary post.

In October 2025, Bell shared a post celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary with a caption referencing a joke Shepard made after watching Dateline. Bell quoted Shepard saying, “I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would”. Critics and advocay groups claimed the comments made light of domestic violence.
