House fire in north Charlotte ruled accidental

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  A fire that destroyed a home in north Charlotte has been ruled accidental.

Crews responded to the scene on the 3000 block of Dalecrest Drive around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force says improper disposal of smoking materials near the deck started it.

A fire destroyed a home in the Derita neighborhood of north Charlotte early Friday morning, leaving the people inside looking for a new place to stay.

Four adults were displaced and being assisted by Red Cross.

Estimated property loss $100K.
